Melee Reach Update

Melee Reach Adjustment

  • Player melee reach now matches creature reach, preventing players from kiting creatures without retaliation.
  • This change ensures fairer melee combat and balances player and creature interactions.

Settings Panel Introduction

New Settings Panel

  • A settings panel is now available, accessible via the ',' key or through the mobile menu.
  • The first option allows players to adjust text size (Small, Medium, Large) for better readability.
  • Settings persist across sessions, providing a consistent experience.

Speech Rework and Improvements

Speech Rework

  • Speech bubbles now color-code by speaker: NPCs in cyan and players in yellow.
  • The format includes a "<Name> says:" header for clarity.
  • Consecutive lines from the same speaker stack into one block, growing upward.
  • Each line expires on its own timer, improving readability and reducing clutter.

Vocations, Mana, Skills, and the Oracle

Vocations and Mana

  • Characters start without a vocation and can choose to become a Knight, Paladin, Sorcerer, or Druid at the Oracle NPC in the temple.
  • Vocations affect HP/mana growth, regen rates, and training speeds.
  • Mana is now a visible resource, with a bar in the vitals HUD and character sheet.

Skills

  • Skills have expanded from 3 to 4 categories: melee, distance, shielding, and magic.
  • The equipped weapon determines which skill trains on a hit.

The Oracle NPC

  • Located in the temple, the Oracle promotes characters to a vocation at level 8.

Loot rebalance, better rewards for hard rooms, and chests that take time

Rarity

  • Every item's rarity now matches how strong it actually is. The better the stats, the rarer it is.
  • Magic Plate Armor is now Epic.
  • Some items changed tier. Check your gear.

Rewards follow the challenge

  • Hard rooms pay at any depth. Clear a boss room on Depth I and its chest is a real Legendary chance. You no longer have to be deep to be rewarded for beating something hard.
  • Easy chests rarely pay big. A starter cache can still spike into Epic or better, but it is a jackpot, roughly 1 in 100 runs at Depth I. Running past every monster is no longer a way to gear up.
  • Going deeper raises your odds. Depth does not unlock rarities, it makes the good ones more common: the same starter cache spikes about 3x more often on Depth II and about 10x more often on Depth III.
  • Artifact still never drops from normal chests. It only comes from the two special chests on each depth: one needs that depth's key, the other stays sealed until every guardian in the room is dead.

Chests take time to open

  • Opening a chest is no longer instant. It now has a cast bar.
  • Common 1.5s · Uncommon 2s · Rare 2.5s · Epic 3.5s · Legendary 4.5s · Artifact 6s
  • Walking away or stepping out of reach cancels it.
  • Taking damage does not cancel it. You can open a chest mid-fight, if you dare.
  • Corpses and bags still open instantly.

Twelve season rewards you keep forever

Characters reset when an edition ends. That has not changed: everyone starts an edition on the same footing.

What changed is what you walk away with. Your account now keeps a permanent record, and the outfits you earn are yours on every character you ever make.

Pre-Alpha's wardrobe

Three outfits, each with two addons, plus three mounts. Twelve rewards, twelve different things to go and do. They can only be earned while Pre-Alpha is live.

  • Hunter — descend into the breach.
  • Hunter Addon 1 — descend a hundred times.
  • Hunter Addon 2 — play on thirty separate days.
  • Warrior — extract alive twenty-five times.
  • Warrior Addon 1 — fell two thousand creatures.
  • Warrior Addon 2 — defeat twenty-five rivals below.
  • Knight — reach the third depth.
  • Knight Addon 1 — open five hundred caches.
  • Knight Addon 2 — pull an artefact from a cache.
  • Widow Queen — extract alive fifty times.
  • Shadow Draptor — descend two hundred times.
  • War Bear — fell five thousand creatures.

Each one unlocks on its own. Earning an outfit does not hand you its addons — you climb them one at a time.

Mounts cannot be ridden yet. You keep the ones you earn, and they become rideable when riding arrives.

When Pre-Alpha closes, nobody new can earn any of this. Everyone who did keeps it for good.

What you keep

  • Outfits, addons and mounts. Yours permanently, on every future character in every future edition.
  • Seals. Dated proof of what you did and when.
  • Your record. Expeditions, extractions, deepest depth, rivals defeated, caches opened, days played. These numbers never reset.
  • Standing. Seals earn renown, renown earns a title beside your name.

What still resets

  • Level and skills.
  • Gear and stash.

Season ranks

Seven boards, not one ladder: level, extractions, deepest run, rivals defeated, creatures felled, caches opened, and renown. How you play decides which one you top.

Where to find it

  • Press J in game for your record, your wardrobe, and what you are closest to earning.
  • Wear what you have earned from the outfit window (O).
  • The Season page has this edition's full ladder and standings.

Every account that has already played Pre-Alpha is credited from its existing progress. Log in and check.

14 Jul 2026Pre-Alpha

Pre-alpha is invitation only

Lootbags is in invite-only pre-alpha. Your character can be reset before Alpha, but your account starts collecting its Legacy now.

  • Closed Alpha and Closed Beta are limited access, reachable through Support Packs, invites, and rewards.
  • Open Alpha and Open Beta are public: anyone can join.
  • A store is planned, with cosmetics and convenience items.

Prices and contents will be announced before anything goes on sale.
